The Civic Joy Fund is revitalizing San Francisco by investing in events that bring joy to the streets. From neighborhood night markets to Downtown First Thursdays and beyond, our work celebrates the creativity and civic spirit that make San Francisco shine.

Our grant program supports community-driven ideas that transform public spaces into places of joy, belonging, and shared experience. Whether it’s a festival, pop-up activation, or volunteer-led event, we’re looking for events that help re-energize neighborhoods, strengthen community ties, and spark lasting civic pride.

Application Process

We welcome event proposals from community groups, nonprofits, artists, and individuals who share our belief that joy is an essential part of civic health. Proposals must be:

  • Open to the public

  • Free of charge for event attendees

  • And take place in an outdoor public space

Submit your idea using the form below. Our team reviews proposals on a rolling basis and aims to respond within 2-4 weeks.
